Society sends women a message: You can have it all. A successful career a loving relationship children hobbies financial security beauty. What they do not tell you is that having it all is impossible. You cannot be everywhere at once. You have to make choices and every choice means letting go of something. For years I felt like a failure because I could not balance everything perfectly. At a certain point I stopped trying to have it all. I decided instead to have the things that mattered most to me. I decided to have a career that fulfilled me. I decided I did not need children to have meaning. I decided to stop apologizing for my choices. That decision was liberating and freeing.
