My father was part of the first generation of farmworkers unions in California. He talked about Cesar Chavez about walking picket lines about fighting for justice. That legacy shaped me. I grew up understanding that collective action is how change happens. That individuals alone have limited power but communities united are unstoppable. I became a community organizer. I organize around housing access around workers rights around immigrant rights. I have organized tenants to demand better living conditions. I have organized workers to demand fair wages. This work is not glamorous. It is slow. It is hard. But it is meaningful.
