There is a cost to this work. There is burnout. There is vicarious trauma. There are moments when the injustices I witness feel too much. There are moments when I wonder if anything I do actually matters. In those moments I practice radical self care. Not as luxury but as necessity. I go to yoga. I spend time with my family. I rest. I create. I remember why I started. I remember the faces of people I have helped. I remember the victories we have achieved. Self care for activists is not selfish. It is revolutionary.
