I am Muslim. My faith is central to my peace work. Islam teaches me that every human life is sacred. Islam teaches me about mercy and compassion. Islam teaches me that we are all created in the image of the divine. These teachings ground me when my work is hard. My faith reminds me why I do this work. It reminds me that peace is possible. It reminds me that I am not alone. Many colleagues are spiritual in different ways. Christian Buddhist Hindu atheist. But we are united by a commitment to something transcendent. To life and healing and dignity.
