My wife is from Kenya. She grew up in peace while I grew up in war. When we met I was afraid our different experiences would create distance. But she showed me something beautiful: she could honor my experience without needing to share it. She could hold my pain without being crushed by it. She could support my work without thinking it was her burden. We have built a marriage based on understanding and acceptance. She has taught me that healing happens in relationship. That love can transform trauma.
