I have been told in subtle ways that I am too much. Too dark too loud too opinionated. I spent years apologizing for myself. But I have reclaimed my Blackness with intention. I love my dark skin. I love my natural hair. I love my loudness. I love my opinions. I love my accent. I love all of it without apology. This self love is political. It is an act of resistance. It is medicine for myself and all the people who look like me.
